DIY with Kimberley

Hi. I'm KimberleyHi, I’m Kimberley;  a Toowoomba Local. I’m a busy partner and mother of  3 year old Noah and 2 year old Olivia and also currently studying Engineering at USQ. My passion for DIY projects started when I completed a Trade Start program through Construction Skills QLD.  I went on to teach myself how to build furniture and bits and pieces around the home!

I just love making things for the house & garden, for family & friends. I get a real kick out of coming up with ideas and designs and seeing them come to life.  The projects give me a sense of achievement and pride and, at the same time I’m creating something functional or beautiful for our home.  An added bonus is that I can custom make it to suit the space AND I usually save heaps of money too.

Some of the things I’ve made include; book shelves (even a barn shaped one!), toddler beds, queen size beds, hall tables, sliding pantry, wardrobes, bedside tables, doll beds, bar tables, coffee tables and more! Here are a few images

NEW Feature Project: Garden Bridge

In October my Dad asked if I would have time to make a replacement bridge for my Mums birthday. This year has been crazy and I finally got on to it in time for Christmas.

Feature Project: Herringbone Coffee Table

How-to-make-a-Herringbone-Coffee-TableThere are a few things I learnt from this project. Firstly, I am definitely getting a nail gun for Christmas and I have a serious shortage of clamps. I recently had access to a bundle of recycled timber from an old deck. It had been painted twice in its lifetime from dark red to a grey-blue, and it was beautiful. The next morning I decided to get to work and create a cofee table in a herringbone pattern to show off the rustic recycled timber.
